| Bio: | This is the fourth major revision of my bio. Frightening how much has changed since 2003 – from stable to adrift, the far ends of the earth and back home again. I’ve gone from totally lost, to more found than I ever supposed I would be. I don’t even know how to begin anymore – that was so long ago.
When I started this journal, I had this plan; and I think it was a pretty good plan. Live near Chicago, work for a online benefits management company, marry an Indiana swinger-chick to make babies and watch her get fat, eventually buy a house in a flood zone. It's not the best plan, but it was mine. The fates, in the form of the US Department of Labor, changed my plans by shutting down the company. The owner made off with our payroll and our 401(k) contributions, and we were left without money or possibility of more. That was October of 2003.
I started this journal on the advice of a nice girl I was sodomizing on a regular basis, as a way I could relieve my exhibitionist tendencies. It was anonymous and dirty, and didn’t have much to do with my real life. Then real life interjected itself in those ways that cannot be ignored. My company was shut down by the feds, the owner was stealing client money, and the 39 employees were left in a tailspin as the country began it’s economic slowdown. I stopped having so much sex and started writing about the other things in my life – and through this, I began to get to know the people reading this, and started making friends.
In the years since our shut down, a lot has happened. I have lived in several different places, including time in Arizona, Texas, Los Angeles, and a year in the Philippines - in any of these places I was willing to stay longer, but that was not to be. I had given up all hope to ever be hired again when out of the blue, a company hired me. I've been working for them for over two years, and I have to say that my mental health is soooo much better when I have some confidence in my employment. What I do for a living is of little consequence; it is uninteresting and very reliable, which is what a lot of people end up settling for in a spouse, and I have to say, I see the attraction. Really - you look back during the long unemployment, and it's a scary read. I really think that a man's mental health is tied to his occupation in a way that's a little scary and sad.
As a result of job stability, everything else began to fall into place. I had a few dating false starts, but then found this amazing woman. She wasn’t what I thought I would end up with, but she is the best thing to ever happen in my life. Of course, she wasn’t looking for anything long term either – but our mutual friends conspired to get us together, and they did one hell of a job. It started out as casual sex, then became serious sex, then became something else entirely unexpected.
I left for Nepal in the summer of 2007, to go see Mount Everest, and find a few things inside myself. If this girl was waiting for me at the airport in Los Angeles, then I would put my doubts away and step forward into this new life with her. She was there, just as she promised she would be, and I began to put away my fears of abandonment, and force myself to simply trust her, trust that she loves me, trust that I am her choice and her commitment to me is true; to love her without reservation. My life with her has become my greatest reward, and we were married on March 22nd, 2008. She is pregnant, and I will be a father this year.
We are still dirty sex freaks, and neither of us are putting our decadent pleasures away, but our lives are changing together. I now have two step-kids, and we are learning how to be a family together, while waiting on the newest member to arrive. We live in Phoenix, in a neighborhood where lawns are policed for neatness and neighbors eye each other suspiciously. I know in my gut that we are not the only dirty swinger sex freaks on our block, but I think we’re going to be the most obvious.
I know what the journal started out as, but I don't know what it is now, or what it's going to be. Anyone is welcome to come and read my cynically idealistic writing, or losing-side political beliefs. I friend indiscriminately, which has lead to some unlikely relationships, most of which have made me a better person.
